“Sometimes, you will never know the value
of a moment until it becomes a memory”
Every day is an opportunity to make memories with your family! Whether they are normal, everyday moments, or once-in-a-lifetime family experiences, these moments are magical and worth capturing.
If everything you see here aligns with your values, reach out for more specific information and availability.
We start by paying a session fee to initiate our work together. The fee covers my time and creative energy as we plan the vision for your session.
All products - including digitals - are purchased separately after the session
The next step in the process is to organise a little get together before your family session. You’ll be invited to the studio for a coffee and we will chat through everything you need to know about your family session. It will be a chance to get to know one another before the actual session - this is crucial for me to find out how you interact as a family to get those genuine smiles. I’ll go into detail on how to best prepare your family (and even the dog if you decide to include them too!). The aim from this chat is to walk away with all questions answered,
At the end of your family session, I'll set a date to invite you back into the studio so you can view your images for the first time! This can get pretty emotional - for me too! I'll have tissues at the ready, and I'll be on hand to help you select the collection of images that best fits your family. You will also have the opportunity to see how your images will look on your own wall at home thanks to my state-of-the-art software only available in studio. My clients don’t intend to let their images live solely on hard drives and phone screens. Your Child’s image deserves to be proudly displayed in your home.
I will walk you through options for enjoying your images in your hands for years to come. I offer a full range of print products and all orders can be made during your viewing session. Easy peasy!

A:
Full family sessions are always done outside because I like it when kids have the room to play, run and be themselves. Plus, I find most children are much more cooperative when they are given free-roam as opposed to being in the studio.
The location of the shoot is entirely up to you! I cover all of Aberdeenshire and am willing to travel. Popular locations include the Ugie Beach, Peterhead; Haddo House, Ellon; Aden Park, Mintlaw; to name a few. But you are not limited to these places. I always recommend having your shoot in somewhere that is special to you and your family - like a place you always go to walk the dog, or you often go for a picnic. This makes the shoot even more special to you and your family.
A: I have a very good weather app I use which tells me quite accurately what the weather will be like in any given location within Aberdeenshire. Prior to your session, I keep a very close eye on the weather and update you the morning of on how it is predicted to look. The only time I tend to reschedule shoots is heavy rain, or high gales (you just can’t hide wind in photos).
One thing about Aberdeenshire, or Scotland for that matter is the weather is unpredictable and I can not guarantee your session will happen on a perfect, sunny day. What I can guarantee is that we will make memorable and beautiful photos of your family whether you are basking in a golden sunset or splashing in puddles. Sessions are meant to document your life, even on rainy rays, so bring an umbrella!
A: First and foremost, you should be comfortable! Outdoor family portrait sessions - especially with little kids - are fairly active, so expect that the kids may run around and get a little dirty. You may need to sit on the ground and we may do some walking around. Comfort is paramount to make sure that you can relax and be yourself in front of the camera.
Secondly, I always recommend that once you have chosen your location, find a colour palette that compliments it and go from there. I’ve found during my own experience for my own family photographs, it is much easier if mum choosing what she wants to wear first, and matching everyones colours around you. By choosing palette, it helps create a more uniform look to your photographs which looks amazing when displayed in your home.
I include a guide with every single family sessions which outlines what a palette means, and gives some examples for you to have a look through.
Try to avoid bright, neon colours, bold patterns, and clothes with writing across the front. I find this distracts from your family, when the goal is to have your family as the focus.
A: Always! I do believe there is a place for at least one posed photo during your session where everyone is looking at the camera (the grandparents photo as I like to call it). The rest of the time, I use my vast knowledge of prompting to help guide you through your session to create candid-style photographs which show your connection as a family.
Absolutely! In fact, I’d go as far to say that I would be rather miffed if you didn’t. Dogs are as much a part of the family as any other member and should be included in your family session. I’m very experienced with dogs and know the best tricks in the book to make even the most hyper dog sit for 5 seconds (that’s all we need for the grandparents photo after all!)
Make sure to bring plenty high quality treats, their favourite toy and a lead you don’t mind having in the photographs and we are good to go!
A: Absolutely! Full family sessions are perfect for including as many family members are you would like. Full sessions are only 60 minutes, though, so we have to be realistic. If you’d like to do multiple family combinations, I can help you come up with a list of photos that we can accomplish during our time together.
A: Your £99 booking fee includes your pre-session consultation, your photography session, post production of your images and your viewing and ordering appointment. No digital images or products are included. The £99 is credited towards your chosen package, chosen during your viewing and ordering appointment.
A: Your viewing and ordering appointment is when you get to see your images for the first time. After your family session, we will schedule a date that works for you all to come back to the studio to view your images on the big screen. This is my favourite part of our journey together. I get to see first hand how much you love the photographs, and I am there to help you make any decisions on your chosen image collection and how you will display your photographs in your home.
All decision makers should be present within the appointment and payment for your chosen collection should be made during this time before any images are released. Pay in three options are available. Please just ask for more information.
Thank You!
