Before you know, your little one is now a full blown toddler, and they are celebrating their first birthday.
One whole cycle around the sun, and one whole year of you being their mama!
Cake smash sessions are the perfect way to celebrate this big milestone.
Sessions usually take place around 1 month before your child's birthday to ensure they are back to you in time for the big day.
CAKE SMASH
These sessions are stylised within my cosy white studio, based in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.
My cake smash shoots have four stages:
1. we get some fun images in the studio before they are all covered in cake. I have a range of neutral clothes in studio you are welcome to choose from, or bring your own!
2. We introduce the cake, and most 1 year olds can't believe their luck. If your child doesn't eat cake or indeed the idea of them eating cake doesn't appeal, what about a painting session, another fun way to celebrate but without all the sugar.
3. Bath time - yes in the studio! They can have a good splash and get clean. These are often my favourite images from the session
4. You get to go home, with one exhausted toddler for a nap, and I clean up!

Our daughters first photo session with Samantha was honestly one of the best days after we brought her home. It was so relaxed which suited us to a tee. Getting professional photos is not our idea of fun but when we visited Sam it was like going to see a pal. And when we got to see the final results I actually cried. Our framed photo and album takes pride of place in our home.

Are we a fit? lets chat!
The next step in the process is to organise a little get together before baby arrives! Let’s face it, you are trusting me with the most important little person in your world, so I think its super important to meet with you before hand so you get to know me before handing over your pride and joy. You’ll be invited to the studio for a coffee and we will chat through everything you need to know about your newborn session. I’ll go into detail on how to best prepare your family, newborn (and even the dog if you decide to include them too!). The aim from this chat is to walk away with all questions answered,

Coffee and claick
At the end of your newborn session, I'll set a date to invite you back into the studio so you can view your images for the first time! This can get pretty emotional - for me too! I'll have tissues at the ready, and I'll be on hand to help you select the collection of images that best fits your family. You will also have the opportunity to see how your images will look on your own wall at home thanks to my state-of-the-art software only available in studio. My clients don’t intend to let their images live solely on hard drives and phone screens. Your Child’s image deserves to be proudly displayed in your home.
I will walk you through options for enjoying your images in your hands for years to come. I offer a full range of print products and all orders can be made during your viewing session. Easy peasy!

My studio is designed to be a warming, calming place where you can sit back and relax as I create magic.
When you are ready to book your session, Fill in the contact form and I'll be in touch with dates available in my diary.

A booking fee of £50 is required to reserve your session.

A: I recommend these sessions take place one month before their first birthday (if you want the photographs back in time for their birthday). If you aren't too fussed about having them back for their first birthday, we can schedule them for anytime around their first birthday
Q:WHen should I book my CAKE SMASH session?
A: No, I do not provide a cake for the session. I request you provide your own cake for the session. A small, naked cake or cake with buttercream icing I have found works well in the past. Royal icing is difficult to smash, and can be a bit too sickly for one year olds in my experience.
Cakes are not provided due to allergens.
Q: IS THE CAKE INCLUDED IN THE SESSION?
A: This session is an all-inclusive sessions which means any usable images from the session will be edited and uploaded onto an online gallery. The link to the gallery will be shared with you once the images are ready - for you to download. You will have access to an online store where you can then purchase any prints, acrylics, albums etc.

I am passionate about getting parents into photos. Parents are often the ones behind the camera, and when you look back on the memories you have captured on your phone, your often not in it!
Family sessions aren't just for you - they are for your children; so you can give them photographs when they are older to show them how happy you were to be their mum - don't be a ghost mum!
